Today: Protest "Freedom Square"

Today, a protest dubbed “Freedom Square” organized by 30 NGOs will take place on the Ploshtad Makedonija. According to the organizers, it is in defence of the right to free speech and not about the controversial church. Following various human rights NGOs and Western ambassadors, yesterday also Macedonia’s Parliamentary Commission for Human Rights condemned the incident of March 28. According to spokesperson Bendevska, all parties had reached a consensus that the prevention of the protest constituted a violation of the “constitutional right of freedom of opinion, freedom of speech and freedom of public protest”.
